Rachel Herriges (she/her) is a multi-hyphenate theatre artist originally from the West Coast who can’t help but dive headfirst into any chance to tell a story! Rachel received her Bachelors in 2023 from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, majoring in both Theatre and Religious Studies. Since arriving in Chicago, Rachel joined A Short Leap Theatre’s Ensemble and is an Emeritus Ensemble Member of MicroChicago. Her recent performance credits include Hookman (Bump in the Night), It’s a Wonderful Life (Athenaeum Center), The Subtle, Sublime Transformation of Benny V (A Short Leap), and several other stages throughout Chicago. As a playwright, Rachel delights in spinning stories of the grotesque, the absurd, and the unexpected. Notable works include NO ONE WILL SAVE YOU (Odds&Ends), I LOVE CHESS! (Freshly Brewed), The Blood Eagle (A Short Leap), How a God Sheds Their Skin (Stovelight Productions), and Hot Yoga for Women’s Bodies (Chicago Dramatists). Other hats Rachel has worn with A Short Leap involve producing their Intimate Anarchy PlayFest as well as stage managing their inaugural production, Clearing. A Short Leap has easily become Rachel’s favorite place to create theatre, explore new stories, and take her own artistic leaps!
